Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has begun flight tests of the first serial transport-KC-390. According to the company, the first flight took place on 9 October 2018. The KC-390 is the heaviest aircraft ever developed in Brazil. Until the end of the year, the transport tanker must obtain a certificate from the National civil aviation Agency of Brazil, allowing no restrictions to operate in the airspace of the country, informs Rus.Media.
Developing the KC-390 is the Embraer since 2007. The project also involved the Czech Republic, Portugal, Colombia and Argentina. The preliminary design of the transport tanker was completed in 2012. The KC-390 has a length of 33.4 meters, a height of 11.4 meters and a wingspan of 33.9 metres. The maximum takeoff weight of the airplane is 81 tonne.
