State enterprise “national energy company “Ukrenergo” is engaged in dispatching of the power system, reports about the active preparation for the introduction of the new electricity market and invites the authorities to the joint meeting
This is stated in the letter “Ukrenergo” to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrew Parubiy, Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman and Chairman of the National Commission, carrying out state regulation in spheres of power and utilities (NKREKU) Oksana Krivenko. “SE “NPC “Ukrenergo” continues its work aimed at the preparation of the introduction of the new electricity market. This issue is under constant control of the Supervisory Board and the management of the enterprise”, — said in the letter.
“Taking into account the short time frame that remains for solving these problems (introduction of the new electricity market scheduled for 1 July 2019), I propose to hold a joint meeting with your participation and with the participation of the nkreku to discuss and resolve these issues”, — wrote the head Ukrenergo Vsevolod Kovalchuk.
We will remind, the new model of the wholesale electricity market needs to be introduced from 1 July 2019, in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On electricity market”. The law implementeret the rules of the Third energy package of the EU.
The government at the meeting on 5 June took the necessary decisions for the implementation of the market. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman assured that the market will be launched on time, and the tariffs for the population will not grow.
The launch of the electricity market is a condition of the program of cooperation of Ukraine with the International monetary Fund (IMF), according to which it is planned to receive in the current year $ 2.5 billion loan, as well as providing macro-financial assistance from the European Union (EU) in the amount of 500 million euros.
