The increased demand for gas was covered by imports of gas of own production and gas from storage facilities is raised.
In the first quarter of 2018, the population consumed natural gas by 56% in comparison with IV quarter of 2017 and 3% compared to the first quarter of 2017, the press service of the national Commission.
“In the first quarter of 2018, the gross consumption of natural gas amounted to about of 13.57 billion cubic meters, which is 35% higher compared to the fourth quarter of 2017 and by 7% compared to the first quarter of 2017. The consumption of household consumers increased by 56% in comparison with IV quarter of 2017 and 3% compared to the first quarter of 2017 and amounted to 5.7 billion cubic meters”, – reported in the national Commission.
The regulator explains the significant increase in consumption of reduction in average daily air temperature in that period and, accordingly, the increasing demand both domestic and non-domestic consumers of gas for heating.
“Significant amounts of natural gas consumption in the first quarter of 2018 was covered by imports of gas of own production and gas from storage facilities raised,” added the Commission.
However, in the first half of 2018, Ukraine reduced natural gas imports by 36.7%.
