The head of the Ukrainian defense design Bureau “Luch” Oleg Korostelev in a letter to the head of the Council of national security and defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov has criticized the quality of American anti-tank missile systems Javelin.
The letter notes that the cause of failure “Javelin” was the problem with propulsion engines separate complexes. It was revealed that the plant life of the engine ended, but was extended a special resolution before sending to Ukraine.
As noted Korostelev, boosters need further testing. According to him, the use of such weapons in combat can lead to death of the soldiers.
Korostelev also identified several significant shortcomings of the American anti-tank systems. It is a minor range, the difficulties of operating in difficult weather conditions and the high cost of the complex.
In connection with these problems Korostelev suggested Turchynov to consider the priority of equipping the Ukrainian army anti-tank systems.
