Trump asks Congress to increase the defense budget

The American leader wants to increase defense spending in connection with the threat from North Korea and increasing troops in Afghanistan.

The President of the United States Donald trump sent to the house of representatives of the Congress of the USA the letter in which asks to increase the costs of the defence budget to 2018 in connection with the situation around North Korea and Afghanistan, reported the press service of the White house.

“I ask the Congress to consider the enclosed amendments to the budget for the 2018 fiscal year for the Ministry of defence. The request includes an additional four billion dollars to support urgent measures in the field of missile defence to counter threat from North Korea… and $ 1.2 billion to support the strategy my administration in South Asia”, − said in a letter to trump the speaker of the house of representatives.

He said that the additional funding required to increase military contingent in Afghanistan by 3.5 thousand people.

In addition, the President wants to allocate $ 700 million for repair of U.S. Navy ships John McCain and Fitzgerald, who in 2017 faced civil courts.

Earlier it was reported that the U.S. contingent in Afghanistan will be increased by 3.5 thousand servicemen, up to 14.5 thousand people.
