The Wall, like a ton of bricks

equipe-the-wall-theatre-experienceThe Wall. The first scene that comes probably in mind, when discussing the fetish film Pink Floyd is probably Bob Geldof front of the TV, frightened by a giant flower on Do not Leave Me Now. This moment just before he fired up his TV guitar strokes on an extract of Another Brick in the Wall. It may be that, maybe something else: walking hammers, children who fall into the meat grinder, shaving eyebrows, war scenes …

All that, Richard Petit suggested in The Wall Theatre Experience, something far from the tribute show. Instead, it was decided to revive the total trip of film by Alan Parker and Roger Waters in 1982 with the musical wheel and a few pieces chosen elsewhere in the Pink Floyd directory.

“It’s more a musical,” insists the musician and producer, who has set his scene of 15 meters at the Théâtre du Casino du Lac-Leamy before the tour that will take the company to the United States and Europe for several months. Some 150 shows are scheduled for 2017.

“The product was created for export and could live only in Quebec, given its scale. We are talking about decorations, musicians, singers, visual effects and sound very sophisticated, a stage that can accommodate different sizes of amphitheaters. This is a big deal, “says one who has already proposed two humble drafts of this show which is participating the Gatineau Eva Avila. The winner of Canadian Idol in 2007 plays the role of groupie and added his voice in the chorus alongside Meggie Lagace.

“It is the third version says Richard Petit. The things we pushed even further to offer the show to Americans and Europeans. The phone rang the next day sending excerpts. They loved it and they booked. ”

Since the second version, the singer Sebastien Lacombe assumes the role of Pink, this schizophrenic star at the center of the film. Sylvain Auclair (Voice, 2014 edition) interpreter meanwhile the different personalities of Pink.

“Sebastian had everything: the face, the voice, the cast and very sharp British accent Roger Waters. We wanted it to be like. For me, you do not change a note or a word in this stuff. The fan finds exactly what he knows, “says Richard Petit, who plays for his attorney.

Musicians and singers are also called in to make the stage version as close as possible to the original. The musical direction is provided by Michael Bruno.
