(Sherbrooke) The Jacques Cartier Bridge will be completely closed to traffic for three days next week to allow the installation of new traffic signals at the intersection of boulevard Jacques Cartier South and Tracy Street.
The bridge will be closed in both directions from Monday May 23 to Wednesday, May 25 inclusive, forcing motorists to take a detour or by Belvédère Street South or by Highway 410.
“This closure is necessary to allow the first phase of excavation work to install new traffic signals, said City in a statement issued Thursday morning. These traffic lights are necessary because of the construction of new residential buildings in the area. ”
The City says it wants to take leave from Victoria Day to undertake this work in order to minimize the inconvenience to traffic and the many activities taking place at Jacques-Cartier Park during the summer.
Only access to the property sector will be possible during the work, says the City.
Once this first phase is completed, other ad hoc and partial barriers are needed on the Jacques-Cartier Boulevard South in order to complete this project.
