The trade deficit in the first half of 2018 increased by 13 times. According to the State statistics service.
For the first 6 months of 2018, the export of goods and services amounted to 27,82 billion, an increase of 11.1% compared to the first half of 2017. At the same time, imports of goods and services in the first half was 28,47 billion, an increase of 13.5%.
“The negative balance amounted to 653,1 million dollars (in the first half of 2017 this figure was equal to minus of 48.7 million dollars)”, — stated in the message.
The negative foreign trade balance of Ukraine with the EU in the first six months have made 908,1 million dollars (compared to 1.27 billion in the first half of 2017), with the CIS countries was 1.13 billion (110,4 million dollars last year).
According to the state statistics service, export of goods in the first half amounted to 23.26 billion dollars (+12,7%), imports of 25.92 billion (+14.4 per cent). Thus, the negative balance of trade in goods increased from $ 2 billion in the first half of 2017 to 2.66 billion dollars in the first half of 2018.
Growth of negative balance in trade in goods mainly justified by growth of imports of goods from CIS countries to $ 6 billion from 4.91 billion in the same period last year.
Services exports in the first half grew by 5.7 percent to 5.3 billion, imports —by 0.5%, to 2.55 billion dollars. The surplus on services increased to 2.83 billion dollars.
We will remind, the negative balance of foreign trade balance of Ukraine by the end of 2017 amounted to 2.63 billion dollars, while in 2016 it was positive (541,6 million dollars).
