Japanese company Subaru has no plans to abandon the model Subaru WRX STI, but in the future the model will lose the usual 2.5-liter motor and will move to a more efficient and cleaner power unit. It is not excluded that we are talking about hybrid system of new generation.
David Dallo Stretto Manager, sales and marketing of the European division of Subaru, during communication with journalists of the British edition of Autocar said about the new generation of sedan Subaru WRX STI. Top Manager noted that the 2.5-liter engine with four-cylinder has simply to have outlived its usefulness and “cannot exist in the future”, so the new generation of the sedan will get a completely different engine.
Mr. Dallo Stretto did not disclose details about the new Subaru WRX STI, but insiders report that engineers are preparing a hybrid propulsion system, which will allow you to keep full drive. It is noted that the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine will be located on the front wheel axis, while the electric motor will drive the rear wheels.
As for design, the new Subaru WRX STI is expected to be made on the basis of the concept Subaru Viziv, which was presented a few weeks ago at the motor show in Tokyo. The novelty will receive a number of carbon fiber body panels that significantly reduce the weight of the car.
