The introduction of a new model of the wholesale electricity market as scheduled on July 1, 2019 — consider it necessary at European business Association
This was stated by Svetlana Mikhailovskaya, Deputy Director of the European Business Association.
“The grounds for this reform, by and large, everything is there. It is very important that this reform happened to the market was transparent. It is a signal for internal business and for external partners that we are moving in the right direction, we are dedicated to fulfilling their obligations and moving toward progressive reform. The European business Association has always supported the reform of the energy market. This is something that really, in our opinion, according to including international experts, will help to improve the situation we have today in the market today are not very transparent market operates. Accordingly, I think that for Ukraine, the delay of this reform – it would not be good,” said S. Michael.
On 22 April, the international community expressed concern about the deceleration of the launch of the new electricity market. This is stated in the joint letter of the Head of the EU delegation to Ukraine H. Mingarelli, Director of the European Energy Community J. kopacz, head of the European investment Bank in Ukraine J.-E. de Corral, managing Director of the European Bank for reconstruction and development in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus M. Patron, Director of USAID mission in Ukraine S. Fritz.
Deputy Director of the European Business Association believes that state leaders should heed the voice of the international community. “We hope that the President and the government will support the implementation by Ukraine of the assumed international obligations. No matter how corny it would sound, must be a political will to reform (reform of the electricity market – ed.)” — said Svetlana Mikhailovskaya.
Recall from 1 July 2019 Ukraine planned to launch the new model of the wholesale electricity market pursuant to the law “On electricity market”, adopted in April 2017. The timely introduction of new models of wholesale market depends on — whether Ukraine will receive in 2019 macro-financial assistance from EU in the amount of € 0.5 billion.
