A huge sinkhole nearly the size of ice hockey rink and a depth of a five-story building was formed in Russia
The incident happened in the village of Dedilovo Kireevsky district of Tula region a week ago, on may 8. The day before on a tractor plowed land. The edge of failure was 40 metres from the country house, the “First Tula”.
It is noted that this village is not the first time.
“The pits are due to the dissolution of soft rock – limestone, dolomite and gypsum — groundwater. The ground at a depth loses density and falls under the pressure of upper layers”, added the publication.
In addition, the reason for education failures, according to “Vesti-Tula”, may be what the villagers threw their weave — water came close to the houses, and flooded the infield. Moreover, the village is surrounded on all sides by abandoned mines, underground water eroding soil.
Local residents complain that the reaction of the authorities is still there. A dangerous place to be fenced with a tape, and that’s it. People fear that the earth may continue, as is already noticeable new cracks.
“Now going to the Ministry of ecology and natural resources. There about our troubles I know, but has not replied. We live in a place where you can easily sink into the ground along with the house and all domestic outbuildings. I lifted up the documentation and found out that next to our homes eight karst lakes. Plus the abandoned mines which is not really canned,” complained local resident Valery Shemyakin.
