The deadly bacteria have become stronger thanks to the alcohol

Смертельные бактерии стали сильней благодаря спирту

A number of strains of pathogenic bacteria were resistant to disinfectant substances containing alcohol. This was announced by Australian scientists

On the evolution of bacteria has affected the prevalence of dispensers of antibacterial gel in hospitals that previously helped to successfully deal with intractable infections, reports The Independent.

Dispensers have been widely used in hospitals since the mid 2000-ies, as it has been shown that disinfection of the hands helps reduce the spread of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This bacterium is almost not treatable diseases such as sepsis and pneumonia, and has multi-drug resistant.

However, scientists have discovered that the use of alcohol sanitizers has led to an increase of diseases caused by vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). These microorganisms also cause sepsis and are responsible for 10 percent of all cases of hospital infections worldwide.

It was also found that experiments with mice showed that these bacteria are Enterococcus faecium, surviving when treated with ethanol, faster colonize the intestine of rodents.

Meanwhile, in the body of a man found a mysterious cell.
