Exclusion from the diet of meat animals has become a way of life for many people. But whether such a diet is complete, balanced and healthy?
As noted by the acting Minister of health of Ukraine Ulyana Suprun on his page in Facebook around vegetarianism there are many myths. In particular that vegetarians get fewer nutrients from food and they don’t want to play sports.
Properly planned vegetarian diet is healthy, balanced and in many cases useful for the prevention of many diseases. This diet is suitable for people at all stages of the life cycle, including women during pregnancy and lactation, infants, children, adolescents, the elderly, and athletes,
– said Suprun.
Vegetarianism is beneficial for prevention of many diseases
Healthy vegetable diet (vegetables, fruits, seeds) and a complete replacement of animal protein with vegetable (legumes, soy products, nuts) are a great way to prevent and reduce the risk of many diseases – cardiovascular disease, overweight, obesity and some cancers.
If you do not eat meat and to compensate for this nutrient-poor food – do not expect any beneficial effects for health.
Vegetarianism is important in the full replacement of animal protein with vegetable
Vegetarianism should be approached sensibly and carefully – slowly and gradually remove meat or other animal products from your diet, properly plan your diet to get enough nutrients.
“Be realistic. If you prefer fruits or vegetables – that might be a problem. Be sure to consult with your doctor! It will help to choose the best strategy of transition to a new lifestyle,” – said Suprun.
