In the UK, have developed a diet that will save mankind from extinction
To ensure the health of future generations, is necessary to minimize the consumption of meat and increase the amount of vegetables and fruits. According to experts from the British Commission on nutrition and health, such a diet will help to avoid the early death of more than 10 million people.
According to estimates, by 2050 the world population will exceed 10 billion people, and problems to feed all meat consumption should be reduced to seven grams a day. Decision based on three years of research on the modeling, is a diet consisting of 35% of calories from whole grains and protein, mostly derived from plants.
While the diet allows variations based on local needs and culture, an average of only 7 g of red meat per day and 500 grams of vegetables and fruits. Daily consumption of poultry should be limited to 29 grams, which is equivalent to half the halves, and fish up to 28 g, that is, quarter fillet of medium size. Eggs will be limited. You can only eat up to six eggs a week.
“What kind of food we take and how we produce, defines the health of people and planet, and now we are on the wrong path,” said one of the authors of the report Professor Tim lang of London University.
Experts believe that the consumption of red meat and sugar should be reduced at least twice, whereas consumption of nuts, fruits, vegetables, and legumes, such as lentils and chickpeas should double.
Specialists claim that this diet will save from extinction the various species of animals, and help people lead a healthy lifestyle. People not only will be healthier but will also reduce the adverse effects of climate change, soil erosion, deforestation and loss of biodiversity.
