Reduced formula for Granby festival

granby-fete-sera-retour-nouvelle(Granby) Granby New formula reduced to celebrating. The annual event will feature more than evening shows or fireworks. Instead: one day 100% family that will stretch from 11h to 16h, in mid-August at Daniel-Johnson Park, said Thursday the host of cultural and community life of Granby, Mathieu St-Francois.

The event details will only be released next July 22 at a press conference. But it seems clear that the installation last year of the International Song Festival (FICG) at Daniel-Johnson Park has changed the situation in the presentation of events.

The free outdoor shows (Wheat, 30 successful, 16 votes, Mordicus, Marjo, Zebulon and Mass at Dede Fortin) will be offered by the FICG 25, 26 and 27 August, from 19.30.

Same for the fireworks traditionally presented at Granby celebrating. The budget of $ 20,000 will be transferred to FICG. The fireworks show will be presented on August 27 at 22 h 30. The Granby City Council gave the green light this week in the change.

August 13th

Granby party and the International Song Festival have partnered last year, the time of day. But experience is not repeated this year because, on the ground, the alliance of the two events was not always easy from a logistical point of view.

Nothing major, said Mathieu St-François, but the sharing of municipal equipment could sometimes be problematic for both organizations.

Granby festival will be presented on 13 August. This has the advantage of responding to “the will of the city to host the Daniel Johnson park more often,” notes Mathieu St-Francois. Public transport will be free for the occasion.

The details are to come, but the civic festival of Granby residents remain a day of family activities with its three distinctive zones (preschool, youth and teens), specifies the host to cultural life.

The fair will be back with new products. The large corn roast will be held over the lunch hour.

Perfect with a picnic, notes Mathieu St-Francois, stressing that a food concession will be on site. Performances will also be presented in a marquee.
