(Mirabel) Andrew Ranger drove a race quite flawless on Sunday afternoon on the ICAR of Mirabel. And he won his fourth win in six attempts on the old airport runway.
Granbyen has taken the honors in two of the four events of the Canadian NASCAR series this season. Triumphing in Mirabel, he also picked up the drivers’ standings of the head, six points ahead Ontarian Cayden Lapcevich.
“It wonderfully complete a weekend that began with difficulty, Ranger said from the podium. When my engine dropped me during practice, I thought it looked bad. But we worked hard, we did not give up and were rewarded. Win, there’s nothing better! ”
second party, Ranger had the better of Alex Labbé, who had been fastest in qualifying. It doubled the pilot sponsored by BRP at the first corner of the second lap and never surrendered the lead thereafter.
The driver of the Dodge Challenger No. 27 was dominant, as he so often road course.
“I wanted to take the lead from the start and that’s what I managed to do, he resumed. Then, it was enough to keep up. But Labbé was never far behind, I could not afford to error. ”
The race was punctuated only one yellow flag. And when there was recovery, the 24th of 30 laps, everything could have happened.
“Honestly, I was nervous for recovery. There were only a few laps and I knew the guys behind me were hungry. Fortunately, I had a good start. And there was also the tires that worried me. Fortunately again, we got away. ”
Ranger had a good start and Labbe, he has not had the hoped.
“There’s no shame in finishing second behind Andrew Ranger, launched Labbé. Some will say that I lacked fighting spirit today, but I had in mind to save my car. I live very well with this second place. ”
Mirabel winner last year, Kevin Lacroix was third. DJ Kennington and Elie Arseneau completed the top 5. Alex Tagliani took the sixth position.
“I like racing here, everyone knows, again said Ranger. It is a circuit that is made for me. ”
The small world of NASCAR’s series Pinty will meet in Toronto in two weeks, at the Honda Indy. In the streets of the Queen City, Ranger will be further monitored.
“I think in terms of the championship, admitted that leading the series for career wins with 21. In taking the lead quickly and leading 29 laps out of 30, I have amassed a lot of points today. But one should take anything for granted because the series is more competitive than ever. ”
