(Shawinigan) Kongsberg receives support from the Quebec government in the development of a new product for its clients recreational vehicles.
Shawiniganaise The company specializes in the design of electronic systems for this type of vehicle is investing $ 4.5 million in the development of a new generation of electronic assisted directions, a piece that is part of vehicle components and all-terrain motorcycles three wheels. These pieces began to be mounted on the new production line Kongsberg.
The company received Monday morning the confirmation of a loan of $ 750,000 from the Economic Diversification Fund of the Centre-du-Quebec and Mauricie. The good news was announced by Julie Boulet, MNA for Laviolette and Minister responsible for the Mauricie.
“The government has decided to support Kongsberg because the project falls within our guidelines: it is innovation and from research and development,” said Mrs. Boulet, calling the flagship enterprise of the economy of Shawinigan and the Mauricie.
Government assistance will help the consolidation of jobs in this factory with more than 500 workers.
The company has the objective of producing some 100 000 units of the new steering model during its first year of production.
