Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree expanding the list of Ukrainian citizens entitled to a simplified obtaining Russian citizenship

In the signed decree “On certain categories of foreign citizens and individuals without citizenship, have the right to submit applications for admission to Russian Federation citizenship in a simplified procedure”, States that the passport of the Russian Federation in a simplified procedure can now receive:
— citizens of Ukraine without citizenship (citizenship) of other countries and stateless persons, born and permanently residing on the territory of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol traveled outside of these territories before 18 March 2014, as well as their children, including adopted children, spouses and parents.
— citizens of Ukraine and persons without citizenship having permission for temporary residence in Russian Federation or residence permit, refugee certificate, certificate of temporary asylum on the territory of the Russian Federation or the certificate of the participant of the State program on assisting the voluntary resettlement in Russia of compatriots living abroad, permanently living on the territory of individual regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine as of 7 April 2014 and 27 April 2014 respectively, as well as their children, spouses and parents.
On simplified procedure of obtaining Russian passports can also claim the citizens of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Republic of Iraq, the Republic of Yemen and the Syrian Arab Republic, born in territory of RSFSR and consisting in the past in citizenship of the USSR, and their children.
We will remind, earlier Russian President Putin signed a decree “On determining the humanitarian purpose of the categories of persons entitled to submit applications for admission to Russian Federation citizenship in the simplified order”. The document States that the inhabitants of the occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine have the right to obtain Russian citizenship through a simplified procedure.
Note, the Ukrainian foreign Ministry expressed strong protest in connection with the operation on the territory of the Rostov region of the Russian Federation of centers for the issuance of Russian passports to citizens of Ukraine and urged the international partners not to accept and not to accept documents issued by Russian Ukrainians, who live in the temporarily occupied territories of Russia in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine, as it violates the Constitution and laws of Ukraine.
