The Patriarch of the Orthodox Church Filaret told what the arrangement was between him, President Petro Poroshenko and Metropolitan Epiphanios
The Council of bishops it was decided that Filaret will lead the DNC exclusively in the country, and the Epiphany – to represent it in the international arena, Filaret said at a press conference, a live broadcast which led to TSN.
“There was an agreement not only with Epiphany and the President, but with all the bishops at the bishops’ Council that after receiving Thomas I, the Patriarch will lead the Church in the middle of the Ukraine, and outside this Church will represent Metropolitan Epiphanios. That was the arrangement,” said the Patriarch.
According to him, in the preparation and signing of the Tomos there was an oral agreement, which cannot be broken, however, Epiphanius allegedly decided to twist everything and send Filaret to resign.
“In order to preserve the unity, it is necessary to implement the agreement. I, as the Patriarch must lead the Church in Ukraine. And he (Epiphanius. — Ed.) refused and directs himself. Not only the Patriarch is not allows, but does not coordinate. In addition, at the first Synod raised the question, so I did the rest to send. I didn’t agree to this that my rest needs to send after Thomas..,” — said the Patriarch.
Summing up all told, the Patriarch said and expressed to journalists what she thinks of actually, say, someone manages to Epiphanius, presses on it, what’s the Metropolitan informed himself admitted:
