Research vessel “Skatell” returned from expedition in search of oil and gas on the shelf of the Black sea, exploratory drilling is not expected.
About it reported in Public service of Geology and mineral resources of Ukraine on the official page in Facebook.
Now work on the processing of geochemical and geophysical data.
“Now, work is continuing on processing the data, which represent only a small portion provided for offshore operations. The implementation of marine geological studies to drill prospective oil and gas structures is at an early stage”, – stated in the message.
“Marine research and its treatment are quite costly process both in time and money. Because in recent years the annual budget Gosgeonedr on prospecting works in the industry is only 100 million UAH, that deadlines for the completion of studies will depend primarily on the level of their funding. Therefore, the issue of exploration drilling on the site today is not necessary”, — said the head Gosgeonedr Oleg Kyrylyuk.
He also drew attention to the fact that the cost of one well in the Dnieper-Donets basin is 150 — 200 million UAH, and the cost of drilling a 1 m hole in the water – within 10 thousand dollars.
Recall that in 2016 the only Ukrainian geological reconnaissance ship “the Seeker” has revealed 35 billion cubic meters of gas in the North-Western shelf of the Black sea (Odessa region).
In July 2018, “the Seeker” went to the new flight.
“The seeker” – a unique vessel for performing seismic surveys as a regular mid-range modification and high resolution. Low noise motors provides high quality seismic and geological information.
