The third edition of the Giants Trail will be held Saturday at Mont Belu La Baie. More than 150 riders are expected for this type of trail running “trail running” run over a 5 km loop with an elevation gain of 300m one, two or three times. Like last year, there will also be a journey of 1 km for “small giants”.
“The Trail of the Giants Ultraviolet use the snowshoe trails, the tracks” single track “mountain bike and Mont Belu ski slopes,” said in a statement, the Race Director Frédérick Lessard.
“The course remains accessible while representing a challenge for the participants. With some technical passages, culverts and cross profile of the terrain, the riders will have full legs. ”
People can register on site the morning of the event. Part of the profits will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.
Moreover, this trail is the second installment of the Circuit Ultraviolet-Salomon. Riders can thus earn points in the standings. Several have already confirmed their presence. Runners from across Quebec are expected to meet this challenge with the distances vary between 5 km 10 km and 15 km.
As is the case for the appointment of the circuit, there will be entertainment and exhibitors, a cozy dinner for runners and many other surprises. “The atmosphere of this kind of event is always festive, because companionship is more important than the clock,” says race director.
Recall that the UltraViolet-Salomon Circuit is a regional initiative which aims among others to discover the beautiful trails and areas of the region through the three races.
