Under the guise of promoting competition and liberalization of the electricity market is preparing another large-scale robbery of the population of Ukraine
This was stated by Viktor Medvedchuk, the Chairman of political Council of party “Oppositional platform For life”.
“From 1 July 2019 the planned introduction of the electricity market. Over the years of “reforms” carried out by governments, Yatsenyuk, Groysman, the Ukrainians in their own skin felt that all so-called euroreport (prescribed or imposed by Ukraine) will inevitably lead to higher prices and tariffs”, — the politician noted.
According to him, we can already say that the launch of the electricity market will inevitably lead to the appreciation of its value to the public, as this kind of reforms in utterly monopolized the Ukrainian economy always lead to higher prices. And the electricity market one of the most monopolized in Ukraine, 76% of the production of electricity accounts for only two producers: “Energoatom” — 55% and DTEK — 21%.
“Under the guise of promoting competition and liberalization of the electricity market is preparing another large-scale robbery of the population of Ukraine. The main argument for this reform is the requirement that donors and creditors of Ukraine, international financial organizations and the U.S. Agency for international development, who insist that Ukraine “did not delay, accelerate and improve work.” Corresponding obligation the government took two years ago. This is another clear example of the lack of real sovereignty of the supposedly independent Ukraine. Leaving power really independent of the observance of the social rights of citizens. In other respects it is fully controlled by the requirements of the “collective West” and is under full external control”, — said the Chairman of political Council of party “Oppositional platform For life”.
However, he noted that the Ukrainian Association of independent power suppliers asked to postpone the launch of the electricity market. Experts believe that without the preparation of real measures for demonopolization of the market, there are significant risks of increased electricity. According to various estimates, the price increase may range from 30% to 300%. And this despite the fact that over the 2014-2018 tariff for electricity for Ukraine’s population has increased by 221%, or 3.2 times. In parallel, there was a reduced consumption of electricity. These rates, said Medvedchuk, proved to be unaffordable for millions of Ukrainians, as a result, the debt of the population for the supply of electric energy as at 1 April 2019 reached a record figure of UAH 6.0 billion.
“But this is not the limit. The increase in electricity prices means a new round of inflationary spiral, as it will increase the price of produced in Ukraine goods and services, the cost of which electricity is an important part (the food and other utilities). Understand whether it is in the government when taking anti-people decisions that increase the tariff of genocide? Of course. But despite this, the Cabinet Groisman launched new tariff increases, and that means a new robbery of the people”, — said Medvedchuk.
