A Festibiуre flavor to pan across the Alexandra Bridge, a comedy festival, parade country in the city center, snow biking and roaming villages housed in domes are among the 11 projects selected to lead Gatineau as part of celebrations of the 150th anniversary of Confederation next year.
The Committee’s 150 th in Gatineau presented Tuesday, projects that could be funded by a budget of $ 325,000 dedicated to the programming of the 150th anniversary of Confederation on the Quebec side.
The list of projects was approved Tuesday night by the City Council. Several confirmations are yet to get, because various requests for permits and financing are ongoing with other partners.
Six projects rejected
A total of 20 projects were submitted to the 150th Committee. Three were ineligible, and six were rejected. If all the selected projects are moving forward, it will remain $ 35,000 to fund other initiatives. Gatineau is contributing $ 225,000 to the Fund’s 150 th in Gatineau, while Outaouais Tourism injects $ 100,000.
The committee co-chair and president of Outaouais Tourism, Manuela Teixeira, said that the region expects a million tourists more than usual in 2017. Much of this additional traffic will result from the presentation of the MOSAШCANADA exhibition at Jacques-Cartier park which runs from 1 July to 15 October 2017.
