Israel claimed that after the United States out of UNESCO.

Earlier Thursday, a statement about leaving the organization were made by the US state Department, saying that the decision will come into force on 31 December 2018.

“It was a difficult decision, it reflected the concerns of the United States in connection with debts to UNESCO, the need for a fundamental reform of the organization and long-biased anti-Israeli stance in UNESCO”, – reads the statement of the state Department.

The Ministry added that the United States intends to continue cooperation with UNESCO as an observer state.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the US decision and called it “brave and moral”.

The organization has expressed a regret in connection with the release of the United States.

In 2011 the UNESCO as a full member, accepted the Palestinian authority.

The US and Israel, condemned the decision. The United States then suspended payment of membership dues of the organization.

Disagreements with Israel

July 7, UNESCO inscribed in the world heritage list the Old city of Hebron and the Cave of the Patriarchs, located in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories. The organization also pointed out that both facilities are under threat.

The decision has also angered Israel and the United States. They insisted that the resolution it was only about linking Hebron with the “Islamic history” and did not mention the importance of the city to Jewish culture.

In addition, the US stated that the Cave of the Patriarchs is not under immediate threat,” and its inclusion in the list casts doubt on the seriousness of the organization.

The President of the United States Donald trump previously criticized the disproportionate, in his opinion, the US contribution to UN.

The US accounts for 22% of the UN budget and 28% of the budget of peacekeeping missions.
