An international group of scientists showed that eating foods that reduce inflammation, helps to significantly reduce the risk of premature death. About it reported in a press release on EurekAlert!.
The study involved 68 273 people aged 45 to 83 years, with the condition which is observed for 16 years. It turned out that those who carefully watched his diet and ate fruits, vegetables, coffee, wholewheat bread, cereals, low-fat cheese, olive oil, nuts, and chocolate reduced the risk of early death (from any cause) by 18 percent, the risk of death from cardiovascular disease by 20 percent and from cancer by 13 percent.
In addition, the researchers observed a stronger effect of anti-inflammatory diet in the group of smokers. Most often in the study period died, those who ate foods that promote inflammation: meat, offal, chips and soft drinks. Moderate amounts of red wine and beer, on the contrary, contributed to longevity.
