Half Marathon: more than 2,600 runners have booked their bib

1177331(SHERBROOKE) The racing event walk Half Marathon de Sherbrooke will celebrate its five years of existence on July 3 by focusing once more on a winning recipe that has proven itself.

But in order to maintain and even develop interest in the event, the organizing committee did not hesitate to change the popular route of 10 km and 21 km to maximize the racing experience.

Already more than 2600 people have already booked their race number for the edition 2016 and the maximum enrollment should again be reached this year, 4,200 runners.

“The urban site can not really take more; especially during mass starts on the Jacques Cartier Bridge, there are standards of the Ministry of Transport (MTQ) to comply, “said the race director, Nicolas Taillefer.

If the popularity of the Half Marathon is second to none – the event is ranked 7th most popular race in Québec among the 450 Running events – the organization is however to listen to its participants; This is how the journey of 21 km and the 10 km will be changed.

“We wanted them mainly to avoid” in-and-out “round trips over the same distances, including half marathon. It takes more space and it’s more complex with the number of participants we have. Also, we wanted to lower the elevation, the positive gain on the course, “continued Mr. Taillefer.
