(Granby) hellish night for a Granbyen 27 years. Armed men came to his home, tied him up and robbed him before fleeing. The man, who was covered by his assailants, was found by police in shock after activating the panic button on his alarm system.
The central alarm notified police of Granby, 2 to 30 pm on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday after receiving a distress signal from an apartment in the Rue du Mont Brome. Arriving there, officers found a man tied up. “He was not hurt physically, but he was in shock,” says Caroline Garand, spokesman Granby Police Department.
The area was immediately cordoned off. The surrounding police departments were advised to find the suspects, but without success.
Initial reports by police suggest that the victim, who is known for their service, was targeted by gunmen who came home. Having crossed the threshold of his door, they tied up the man and searched his residence. Objects were stolen, but police did not disclose what it is.
The suspects fled in a vehicle. A service technician forensic identification of the Surete du Quebec has lent a hand to investigators analyzing the crime scene.
The victim was met by police who are trying to shed light on this matter. For now, they know that several suspects were involved in robbery, but they do not know the exact number. In all likelihood, the victim had not been chosen by chance. “We are still to determine the links between them,” said the officer Garand.
