Sagueneens begin their regular season later than usual. The first home game, against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, will be submitted only on 30 September.
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced Monday morning the 68 meetings schedule for 18 teams. The schedule was pushed back a few days, in order to mitigate and minimize the absence of the best players in professional camps. The Sags therefore play their first meeting Friday, September 23 at Videotron Centre and the next afternoon in Shawinigan, the Cataractes face.
The Remparts will visit the Centre Georges-Vezina two days after the opening match on Sunday, October 2nd. Like last year, the chicoutimienne training will conclude its regular season with a home series against the Drakkar.
Note that local meetings the week back to 19: 30 pm instead of 19 pm during recent seasons.
The longest section of the road will take place in late January with six consecutive games on opposing rinks, coupled with a trip to the Maritimes with stops in Baie-Comeau, Rimouski, Halifax, Saint John, Bathurst and Shawinigan. Twice a homestand will span five meetings in mid-October and December. Again, the Sags launch the New Year with a meeting on December 31 in the afternoon to face the Rimouski Oceanic. The day before, the Victoriaville Tigres will be visiting.
Caron with Albatros
The former striker of Chicoutimi Christian Caron is back in the AAA Midget Hockey League of Quebec, the College Albatros Bar Our Lady of Rivière-du-Loup. It’s a homecoming for the man who had held the same position in 2005 and 2011. Since then, he has remained involved in hockey and took care of the recruitment of the Gatineau Olympiques.
“We are fortunate that someone like Christian Caron has agreed to join us. We know he received interesting offers from other organizations, but he chose to stay in Riviere-du-Loup and accept the head coaching job, it’s an honor » said President of Louperivois club, Alain April, in a statement.
