Failure to comply with Ukraine’s commitments to reform the energy market threatens further European integration
This was stated by Vice Prime Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic integration Ivanna klympush-Tsintsadze at the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on fuel and energy complex (FEC), write Ukrainian news.
Deputy Prime Minister informed that during the year the government together with all stakeholders worked to update the application 27 to the agreement on Association of Ukraine with the European Union (EU), which relates to energy. And urged MPs to support its ratification.
“I would have just asked for a political decision from each individual MP to support the ratification of the updated annexes to the Association agreement, which creates and obligations of the Ukrainian side, together with the EU to consult and to enter the European Directive with approval, with understanding, with consultations with the EU and requires the EU de facto to regard the actions of Ukraine as the steps for real integration of energy markets of Ukraine towards European integration”, — said Deputy Prime Minister.
She also stressed that the delay in the adoption of decisions concerning the reform of the energy market threatens further European integration of Ukraine. “We put at risk (integration), if we defer further these developments. It is a de facto list of our commitments extended in accordance with the extent to which the law of the European Union,” said klympush-Tsintsadze.
Recall that the Verkhovna Rada Committee on the fuel and energy complex, nuclear policy and nuclear safety at the meeting on may 28, ignored the bill to postpone the launch of the wholesale electricity market without gathering a quorum.
