European Association for coal and lignite EURACOAL welcomes the launch of the liberalized market of electricity in Ukraine from 1 July as an important step in the development of the country.
According to Interfax-Ukraine, stated in a letter addressed to the Vice Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion, head of the national Commission Oksana Krivenko, speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andrew Parubiy signed by the head EURACOAL Brian Ricketts addressed on Thursday.
“To avoid cronyism or state intervention that benefits the few at the expense of many, requires adherence to free market principles in a market model e/E. Ukraine starts the market reform e/e and follows the example of most other European countries that have implemented the Third energy package of the EU”, — stated in the document.
While the free market should be open to many players, including importers and exporters, noted in EURACOAL.
The Association warns Ukrainian officials from mistakes, believing that the poorest segments of the population should be organized through appropriate social policy (not to entrust these functions to the power company). Support for renewable sources of energy should be transparent, so that consumers know about its value, I read in EURACOAL.
“Most importantly, competitive market that properly reflects the true value of e/e, creates the conditions for investment in new power plants and other energy infrastructure”, — emphasized in a letter to Ricketts.
As reported, on July 1, 2019 in Ukraine scheduled the launch of the new wholesale market of electric energy (WEM). A single buyer and seller of e/e – GP “energy” is eliminated. It is assumed that energy producers will sell their electricity through bilateral contracts with major consumers and suppliers. That will be contracted through bilateral contracts, will be available on the market “day ahead” and vnutricletocnam the market. The calculation for the unbalance will be implemented in the balancing market.
