The former head of the government of Catalonia needs to call in for questioning before deciding on his extradition.
Official representative of the Federal Prosecutor’s office Belgium Erik van der SIPT reported that the Belgian authorities received a warrant for the arrest of the former head of the government of Catalonia Carles Pokdemon, reports RIA Novosti.
“We received a European warrant for the arrest, examine him and give to the examining magistrate. The time frame for this – probably it will happen tomorrow, the day after or Monday,” said van der SIPT.
It is noted that the order will give the court investigator, who will probably cause Pokdemon for questioning before deciding on his extradition.
The representative of Prosecutor’s office of Belgium pointed out that after interrogation, “the coroner will have 24 hours to make a decision.”
Recall that in late October, the Catalan Parliament proclaimed the region’s independence from Spain. After that Madrid imposed in the region of direct control, dissolved the regional Parliament and ousted the government.
The head of Generalitat Catalonia Carles Pujdeme refused to accept his resignation. A few days later he went to Belgium.
National judicial Board of Spain arrested eight members of the Catalan government, removed from power. They are charged with mutiny and embezzlement of budget funds.
The Spanish Prosecutor’s office asked the court to declare the international wanted list Pokdemon and four ex-Ministers outside of the country.
