A worker Rio Rinto Alcan (RTA) assigned to the maintenance of a generating unit of the Isle-Maligne plant suffered a fall height Thursday morning.
According to information provided to the Standards Commission, equity, health and safety (CNESST), the individual would have had a fall into a pit turbine with a height of nine meters shortly before 8 pm. Two inspectors from the body were sent in to know the exact circumstances of the accident.
According to information provided by Xuan-Lan Vu, spokesman for RTA, when the rescue, the worker was conscious and was transported by ambulance to the hospital Alma. Ms. Vu was not able to specify the condition of the injured worker. An analysis of the causes and circumstances of the accident will be made to avoid the repetition of such an event.
Firefighters from Alma Fire Department were dispatched to the scene to remove the worker from the well. The man reportedly suffered multiple fractures, but it is not life threatening.
