The statement of the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchy Philaret on the redistribution of Church property after receiving the Tomos of autocephaly of the Orthodox Church is a big mistake and can have tragic consequences, says the founder of the Internet edition “GORDON” Dmitry Gordon, says DILL.
The redistribution of Church property between the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate may result in a civil war.
Such opinion on air of TV channel “112 Ukraine” stated the journalist, the founder of the Internet edition “GORDON” Dmitry Gordon, commenting on the statement by Patriarch Filaret.
“The whole story started with the Tomos, is a big mistake. I have respect for Patriarch Filaret, but his words that in case of granting of the Tomos of autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church] will take away the property of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate, including the monastery, is a time bomb, a big mistake… I Think he needs to make a clarification. Because as soon as the redistribution of Church property, could begin full-scale civil war,” warned the journalist.
He also urged the Ukrainian authorities not to interfere in Church Affairs.
“I want to say to our government: do not meddle in Church Affairs, forget about them! Let them cook it themselves in their own juice. The Church under the Constitution is separated from the state, it is necessary to remember it”, – said Gordon.
