The message about the dismissal Hornsey was sent to Uber employees via email on behalf of CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.
The head of Department on work with personnel of the company Uber Vines Hornsey, resigned from his post after a year and a half of work due to accusations of discrimination. It is reported by Reuters on Thursday, July 12.
The message about the dismissal Hornsey was sent to Uber employees via email on behalf of CEO Dara Khosrowshahi after an internal investigation about her work with the statements of employees about racial and sexual discrimination within the company.
During the investigation, some employees of Uber accused Hornsey that she systematically rejected the complaints of colleagues about the harassment and discrimination. It is also noted that the HR Director allowed himself to derogatory remarks about colleagues of other races.
Hornsey led the HR Department at Uber in February 2017, shortly before the former employee of the company Susan Fowler accused in his blog leadership in racial and sex discrimination employees, and sexual harassment. Then the HR Director took the initiative to identify and deal with such cases of infringement of the rights of employees in Uber in the future.
To this end, the company launched a system of anonymous complaints – each of the employees could directly inform HR Department about discrimination by colleagues.
As reported, Uber has reached a profitable level in the first quarter of 2018. This was largely due to the consolidation of operations into Russia and Asia with other companies.
