BOISBRIAND – The economist Eric Girard, who was until recently the first vice-president and treasurer of the National Bank, will bear the colors of the Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ-quebec) in the riding of Groulx at the next general election.
The leader of the CAQ, François Legault, confirmed his candidacy Monday afternoon, Boisbriand.
According to Mr. Legault, Mr. Girard is “a major addition to the Quebec.” The chief caquiste it clear that his candidate was the National Bank for 25 years and was, until last Friday, liquidity, funding and interest rate risk of the institution.
Mr. Legault said that even if Mr. Girard was a banker, “who is obviously cautious”, he believes in investment in public schools. He also wishes to make the promotion of the French language and feels that it is important to invest in public transport.
Eric Girard is said to have been convinced to make the jump into politics because he has seen in the CAQ a “real willingness to change, especially in the management of our public finances”.
