Rendezvous with Chicago at the Amphitheatre Cogeco

Rendez-vous avec Chicago à l'Amphithéâtre Cogeco

Three-Rivers — The Amphitheatre Cogeco has hosted big names since its inception but has never had a group as successful as Chicago, which, it was announced yesterday that he will be performing on the 12th of September next. The other show which was unveiled with the presentation is that of the group to icelandic Kaleo on September 9.

Chicago, it is more than fifty-year career and 100 million albums sold since first launched in 1969. This is 21 songs in the top 10, five albums number-one consecutive, 11 songs number-one, five songs certified as gold, two Grammys, a star on the Hollywood Boulevard, a street in the city of Chicago in his honor. It can also be noted that the group has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016, or that he was classified in 9th place, the first in the U.s., the top Hot 200 of the greatest artists of all time by the Billboard magazine

The public he will be especially pampered because he will be entitled to a different spectacle to the one that the group sets out on tour with REO Speedwagon during the summer almost everywhere in America. In the first part of the evening, they will interpret fully the album Chicago II, who is in the running for induction into the Grammy Hall of Fame. There are songs like 25 or 6 to 4, Make Me Smile, Wake Up Sunshine or even, classic, Colour My World. In the second part of the show, the members of the group have described as “… the biggest reminder in the world”, they will do the tour of their greatest hits.

The public will be able to see ten musicians on stage, including four original members of the band: Robert Lamm (keyboards and vocals), Lee Loughnane (trumpet and vocals), James Pankow (trombone) and Walt Parazaider (wood). The rest of the group is today made up of Wally Reyes Jr. (drums), Keith Howland (guitar and vocals), Lou Pardini (keyboards and vocals), Ray Herrmann (saxophone and flute), Neil Donell (vocals) Brett Simons (bass).

“A decision like this, this is huge for us,” commented Steve Dubé, director general of the Corporation Events of Trois-Rivières, Monday. As soon as in march, we mentioned the possibility of enrolling in their tour, I knew that this was an opportunity not to be missed. It is a legendary group that has been a part of the lives of so many people for so long.”

“In addition, they arrive with a format of a special show in which they will offer a panorama of their greatest hits, which will meet their fans, while allowing those who are less familiar become familiar with their immense repertoire. It is sure that they will learn songs that they are familiar with without even they know that these are songs of Chicago. It is for this reason that I think we will reach a very broad customer base. The spectacle of Styx last year, we had been surprised to note the presence of many young people. Chicago, which has experienced its biggest success in the years 70 to 90, has so many songs that have remained in the minds of all.”

Steve Dubé does not concern in any way that the date of the show is in mid-September. “In recent years, there has been a beautiful month of September and in the last year, we even presented Boney M on 23 September, and it was the heat wave. In the worst case, we extended the bumper-the weather which will further protect the public wind as the rain then, I have no fear that it’s going to be comfortable.

For the moment, only 3500 seats will be available for sale, but we do not rule out to sell tickets in the portion of the grass if the spaces fill up quickly. Tickets will be available this Friday, may 11, at noon, and the prices will be starting from a base price of $ 65,50 $, including taxes and service charges.

The announcement of the arrival of the group Kaleo is the confirmation of a new option of the amphitheatre in its programming since it is a group less known to the general public, but that deserves to be discovered, and this, at lower cost since the cheapest tickets will be offered to thirty dollars.

“It is a group of icelanders who is on the rise, said Steve Dubé. They have done nothing less that the first part of the Rolling Stones in Europe last fall. They are really excellent and it’s part of our action plan to diversify our offering and to develop new audiences. Their song ” Way Down We Go working really hard and she has been listened to more than 121 million times on YouTube! We want to promote the discovery, presenting it at an affordable price. This is something that we will do more in the future when the opportunity will arise.”

As for Chicago, the tickets for this show will go on sale may 11 at noon on the site of the amphitheatre Cogeco through the ticket office at the hall Thompson.
