Lisée called the rally in solidarity

Lisée appelle au ralliement des solidaires

Jean-François Lisée took advantage of the departure of Amir Khadir, as the mpp to woo the supporters of Québec solidaire (QS). The leader of the Parti québécois (PQ) recalled that Mr Khadir was in favour of a non-aggression pact between the two parties.

“Amir has campaigned in favor of the pact. He was right, but he was outvoted by his party, by its congress,” said Mr. Lisée, who commended the mp for his “courage” in this folder. According to Mr. Lisée, the rallying of the left to a single sign is the only way to beat the liberals or the caquistes in the general election held on the 1st of October.

“You had reason to want a pact not to help the right. Now, the only way to do this is to get together behind the Parti québécois in all counties,” says Mr. Lisée for supporters of Québec solidaire.

If he is elected, the PQ undertakes to change the method of voting for the smaller parties are better represented in the national Assembly, in time for the election of 2022. But for the election this year, “we are prisoners of the current electoral system”, said Mr. Lisée.

Last year, the PQ led by Jean-François Lisée has reached out to QS by proposing an electoral pact, but it has suffered a rebuff. The activists of QS have voted against this proposal.

Mr. Lisée now present “excellent applications,” in all districts. No question of leaving the field open for QS.

In the 2014 elections, the PQ had obtained 25% of votes and QS, 7 %. According to the latest polls, the PQ has the support of 20% of the electorate, while QS gets 8 % of voting intentions.

Not known

Québec solidaire has also presented on Monday the candidate who will try to succeed Amir Khadir in the riding of montreal Mercier. This is Ruba Ghazal, an activist of the first hour at QS, who works in the manufacturing companies for the past 15 years, as a manager in health, safety, and the environment.

Mr. Khadir believes that his party did not need to present a star in Mercier to retain the constituency. He asked Ms. Ghazal to take over.

“I’m not yet a known face,” admits Ms. Ghazal. However, it already provides that people will be “tanned to the see” by the end of the election campaign, she intends to be “everywhere”.

A native of Lebanon, the 40 year old woman defends the secularism open. It has already been a candidate for QS in Laurier-Dorion in 2007 and 2008.
