A former Red and Gold at UQTR

The executive committee of the UQTR has hired Christian Gagnon as assistant director of the Department of physical activity and sport (SAPS). Bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of Sherbrooke, the new assistant Isabelle La Vergne has held the positions of director of Service of sports activities at the University of Laval, from 2012 to 2017, before being fired last fall. This dismissal had aroused some controversy on the campus of Quebec.

Christian Gagnon has been director-general of the Department of sport and physical activity from the University of Sherbrooke for a decade, from 2003 to 2012.

It will enter position on 7 may.

Three medals for Sicard
Luc Sicard has won three medals, all bronze, in the Championship Quebec junior in table tennis, the side of Drummondville.

It was his last participation in this tournament, who will be eligible for this category next year. His coach at the club Ping-O-Max in Trois-Rivières, Martin Marcotte, hailed the career of his protégé, who is about to play on the international stage. “Luke was at the level throughout the end of the week, but it fell on one of his great rivals in the semi-final. However, it has progressed a lot in terms of volume and quality of training for a few months.”

According to Marcotte, Sicard has been able to correct some of the deficiencies in his game during the World Junior Circuit, in Italy, as well as during his two-week internship in France, at the end of the month of march.

Among other results, Alexis Forest, in double in the 13 years and under, has earned the money with Kenny Ly of Montreal. The two are not yet aged only 11 years. In the 9 years and under, with David Duval took the fourth position.

For its part, Sicard will leave again for Europe in the days to come, for other stages of the World Junior Circuit. He will travel to Barcelona, Spain, as well as in Bratislava, Slovakia.

The Ping-O-Max will hold a large-scale competition, the Three Rivers Open, may 5 and 6, the CAPS of the UQTR.
