Three-Rivers — Several artists, councillors, agencies, and stakeholders from the cultural community were anxiously awaiting the unveiling of the finalists of the 25th Grand prix culturels de Trois-Rivières.
On the 14th of may next, a celebration will be held at the salle J.-Antonio-Thompson to reward the achievements that stood out over the course of the year 2017, and this, in eight categories.
“This recognition evening was created for the artists of the region. It’s been 25 years since the City of Trois-Rivières acknowledges and underlines all the work that is done by the arts and cultural communities. The jury had to make a long work of reflection. There has been a lot of high quality applications, we wonder how it came to deliberate,” says Nancy Kukovica, director-general of Culture Trois-Rivières.
“Thanks to the culture, Trois-Rivières radiates everywhere in Canada, but also internationally. It is a pleasure to see the excitement that continues to grow after 25 years. The talent is abundant,” says Stella Montreuil, president of the Corporation de développement culturel de Trois-Rivières.
During the meeting, the organizing committee also wanted to emphasize the importance of the price of the initiative education-culture. “The culture needs to be tamed when there is little. It is important to let people know about our rooms and to make them appreciate the culture. Parents, grand-parents, you have a duty, to make them understand what is culture. It is thus necessary to highlight the exceptional work of educators in schools that train young people to culture,” Ms. Montreuil.
To note that three categories have no finalists, the winners will be announced during the evening. Recall that$ 2,000 scholarships will be awarded to winners in each of the categories, with the exception of the Price-arts-business for which a work of the artist Guillaume Massicotte will be awarded.
